That’s where magnesium body butter comes in. This rich, creamy blend works wonders to soothe and nourish, giving your skin the hydration boost it desperately needs during the fall and winter.

Why DIY? Say Goodbye to Toxins!
Ever looked at the ingredient list on your favorite store-bought moisturizer and thought, "What even is this stuff?" It’s wild how many chemicals, preservatives, and artificial fragrances get packed into those fancy creams. And let’s be real, half of those ingredients are hard to pronounce, let alone understand! Unfortunately, a lot of synthetic moisturizers can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling even drier.
That’s why making your own magnesium body butter at home is such a game-changer. You get to decide exactly what goes into it: pure, simple ingredients that you can actually pronounce. You can choose nourishing oils, rich butters, and natural sources of magnesium to create a moisturizer that really gets the job done without any of the junk. Plus, it's fun to whip up your own skincare!
Natural Ingredients Your Skin Will Love
When it comes to skincare, it's all about quality over quantity. We believe in choosing the best, most skin-loving ingredients to create a body butter that nourishes and protects. No fillers, no harsh chemicals, just pure, natural goodness that your skin will thank you for. Here are the star ingredients of our DIY body butter recipes:
Shea Butter
Packed with vitamins A and E, shea butter nourishes and protects your skin. Its rich, creamy texture is perfect for dry winter skin, absorbing easily without feeling greasy. If your skin is rough or flaky, shea butter is a great option!
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa butter not only smells amazing, but it’s also full of fatty acids that form a protective barrier on your skin, locking in moisture. It keeps your skin soft and smooth, even in harsh winter conditions, and its soothing properties help calm irritated skin.
Magnesium Oil
Magnesium oil is not your typical "oil." It’s actually a highly concentrated solution of magnesium chloride that your skin easily absorbs. Magnesium is a mineral that is crucial for over 300 chemical reactions in your body and is known for its calming properties. It helps ease muscle tension, supports overall skin health, and promotes better sleep, among other things. While you're moisturizing, you're also giving your body some extra TLC. (You can also skip the magnesium and use a simple olive oil instead.)
How to Make Body Butter (With Olive Oil or With Magnesium Oil)
Making body butter at home is easier than you might think! If you want to learn how to make body butter, you can whip up a basic version using olive oil for deep hydration or take it up a notch by swapping the olive oil for magnesium spray. This simple switch turns your DIY body butter into a magnesium-rich treat for your skin and body, which can help relax muscles, ease tension, and support better sleep. Whether you stick with olive oil or go for the magnesium boost, you’ll end up with a luxurious moisturizer that’s perfect for getting healthy, glowing skin.
Body Butter Recipe (Two ways)
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 1/2 cup cocoa butter
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup light olive, almond, or jojoba oil OR ½ cup magnesium spray
Instructions:
- Place the butters and oils in the top of a double boiler or a bowl set over a pot with water. Bring to a medium heat and stir constantly until the butters are melted.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Cover and place in the refrigerator until it is almost completely cool. The mixture will begin to re-harden from the edges.
- Take the mixture out, and whip with a hand blender or hand mixer to begin to blend.
- Return to the refrigerator and repeat this process until the mixture fully incorporates.
- Remove from the fridge—the cocoa butter will cause this to harden somewhat. Allow to soften and whip once again with a hand blender or hand mixer until light and fluffy.
- Place butter in a glass or plastic jar with a lid. Keep cool.
