Y’all, chamomile tea is one of those classics that never lets me down. It’s light and so dang comforting. Plus, it’s gentle enough for most people (including children), which means I can make one big pot and everyone’s happy. It’s my family’s go-to bedtime tea, and I swear it feels like a big ol’ hug. If you’ve ever wondered how to make chamomile tea, I’ve got an awesome recipe that’s easy to throw together and perfect for winding down at the end of the day.
Reasons Why I Love Chamomile
Chamomile is one of those herbs I always keep around because it just does so much. When folks ask me how to make chamomile tea, I tell them it’s not only easy, it’s one of the best ways to bring a little calm into your day.
It’s Great for Sleep
First up is sleep. Chamomile is the herb I go for when my mind won’t slow down. You know those nights when you’re tired but your brain is still checking off the to-do list? A warm cup of this tea helps me drop back into my body. It takes the edge off and helps everything chill out so sleep can actually happen.
It Helps with Upset Stomach
When it comes to your belly? Chamomile doesn’t play. She’s your girl for stress, nerves, gas, and bloating. I swear I can feel my stomach settle after just a few sips.
It Lifts Your Mood
And child, let’s not forget about stress and mood. Whether it’s PMS making me snappy or just one of those days, chamomile has a way of doing its thing. It helps me relax and feel better quickly.
Oh, and pro tip: don’t toss your tea bag when you’re done. Pop it on puffy eyes, a little breakout, or any irritated spot on your skin. It works as a quick poultice and feels so soothing.
Brewing Chamomile Tea with Other Herbs
You can drink chamomile tea by itself, and it's great that way. But I like to dress it up sometimes with other herbs! Fennel gives it a little kick that helps with digestion, and lemon balm adds a sweet, calming vibe. Combine them, and you've got the perfect tea for bedtime.Â
Sweet Slumber Chamomile Tea
When winding down from a long day, this bedtime tea is my go-to. It’s safe for children, easy to prepare, and tastes lovely on its own, especially if you let it cool a bit before serving.
Ingredients:
-
8 tablespoons chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) flowersÂ
-
4 teaspoons lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) leaves
Instructions:
-
Combine all the herbs into a bowl and stir to combine. Store in a glass jar or tin and label with the ingredients and date.
-
To brew, add 1 tablespoon of the tea to a strainer or reusable muslin tea bag placed within a mug.Â
-
Pour about 8 fl oz of freshly boiled water over the herbs. Cover with a lid or saucer (this keeps in the aromatic oils that do so much of the work).
-
Let steep for 5–7 minutes. Strain and allow to cool until warm or room temperature.
-
Have a few sips before bedtime, or whenever you or your little one needs a little grounding. You can add a tiny bit of honey if your child is over one year old and needs a little sweetness.
Not the DIY Type?
No worries. Chamomile is the main ingredient in our RelaxGlow Tea. We also add hibiscus, rosehips, citrus peels, lemon balm, lemongrass, and a little bit of lemon oil. This tea is all about making you glow from the inside out. It helps you stay calm so you can sleep better, soothe inflammation, and even give your skin a little extra love.Â
“I truly love how this tea makes me so relaxed. Just one cup a night and I'm ready to sleep.” - Monika S.
